Eden Prairie, Minn. — Following President Trump's decision to send Border Czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis following Saturday's second fatal shooting, U.S. Senate candidate David Hann released the following statement and commended President Trump for leading by example:

"I am very grateful to President Trump for having the courage to demonstrate the immediate leadership Minneapolis needs by dispatching Homan and communicating with Minnesota officials while the appropriate investigation gets underway.

I also appreciate President Trump speaking with Governor Walz and Mayor Frey to lower the temperature and laying out his common-sense, clear, and accomplishable steps so that border patrol will no longer be needed on the ground in Minnesota. Walz and Frey are being asked to turn over illegal immigrants currently incarcerated in Minnesota for deportation, to turn over illegal immigrants going forward when they are arrested by local law enforcement, and to assist federal law enforcement in apprehending and detaining illegals who are wanted for violent crimes. If these steps are taken and there is cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement, all Minnesotans will be much safer. Thank you, President Trump."
