Eden Prairie, Minn. — U.S. Senate candidate David Hann released the following statement after the second fatal ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis this morning:

“Two weeks ago, after an ICE agent tragically shot and killed Renee Good in self-defense after she tried to run him over with her car, many leaders across the state of Minnesota called for the temperature to be lowered and for Minnesotans to deescalate interactions and conflicts with law enforcement,” said Hann.

“But our state's most prominent leaders – Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan, Mayor Frey, and many other Democrats - have recklessly encouraged conflict and high tension situations which directly led to another completely preventable, unnecessary, and tragic shooting this morning when an armed man approached ICE agents. Democrats must stop encouraging citizens to put themselves in harm’s way by protesting ICE agents, recording arrests, following officers, attending trainings on how to resist, and being out in the streets while these dangerous operations are performed. Minnesotans are not political pawns - their lives and families matter. It’s past time for Walz, Flanagan, Frey, and the rest of our elected Democrat leaders to work with the federal government and urge citizens to stay safely out of the way while criminals are removed from our streets. Two deaths is two too many.”
