DAVID HANN CALLS ON LG FLANAGAN TO RETRACT STATEMENT, APOLOGIZE: "SHAME ON HER" GIMMICK POLITICS INSULT MINNESOTANS WHILE TAXPAYERS FOOT BILL FOR FRAUD

Eden Prairie, Minn. — Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan’s claim that “Somalis built Minnesota” is not only historically false, it is a slap in the face to the working families who actually built this state — and to the Minnesotans now paying the price for her administration’s catastrophic failures.

Minnesota was built generations ago by farmers, loggers, miners, tradesmen, and immigrant families who settled here in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Large-scale Somali migration did not begin until very recently.

What makes Flanagan’s comments even more offensive is her timing.

Minnesotans are living through an affordability crisis — higher food costs, higher housing costs, higher taxes — while the Walz-Flanagan Administration presided over the largest pandemic-era fraud scandal in U.S. history, driven by some in the Somali community.

Through Feeding Our Future, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, if not billions, were stolen through fraud networks operating within a web of nonprofits — many tied to a narrow set of actors — while state officials ignored warnings, dismissed whistleblowers, and allowed the looting to continue.

That money didn’t help struggling Minnesotans.

It didn’t lower grocery bills.

It didn’t reduce property taxes.

It didn’t ease inflation.

Instead, working families were left with the bill.

“This is exactly what happens when gimmick politics replace leadership,” Hann said. “I demand that Lt. Governor Flanagan retract her statement and apologize to Minnesotans. Thank goodness for President Donald Trump’s border policies, which are cutting down on the crime and fraud that are destroying Minnesota. Meanwhile, Flanagan allowed this to occur on her watch — and now she appears to be encouraging it — while Minnesotans pay the price. Shame on her.”

At a time when Minnesotans are demanding accountability, Lt. Governor Flanagan is choosing cheap identity-politics gimmicks that may play well in a DFL primary — but do nothing for the people struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, or heat their homes.

Even worse, her rhetoric glosses over the real damage caused by unchecked mass-migration policies combined with failed oversight, which strain public services, erode trust, and leave taxpayers exposed to massive abuse.

While Minnesota Democrats excuse fraud and dodge responsibility, President Trump’s border policies and renewed ICE enforcement are finally restoring the rule of law, protecting taxpayers, and sending a clear message that America will no longer tolerate exploitation of broken systems.

Minnesotans deserve leadership rooted in truth, not pandering.

They deserve accountability, not slogans.

And they deserve relief, not revisionist history.

Lt. Governor Flanagan should immediately retract her comments, apologize to the Minnesotans whose communities actually built this state, and finally answer for the fraud and mismanagement that occurred on her watch.

Minnesota deserves better than gimmicks.

Minnesotans deserve better than excuses.

And taxpayers deserve their money back.

One thing is clear: Minnesotans cannot afford to have the radical Left representing them in the U.S. Senate.
